J. Larry Nichols

J. Larry Nichols is a co-founder of Devon Energy Corporation and currently serves as chairman, president and chief executive officer of the corporation.  Prior to joining Devon, Larry was special assistant to then assistant attorney General William Rehnquist in the U.S. Department of Justice.  Earlier, Nichols served as law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren and Justice Tom Clark.  He serves as a director and officer of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and Natural Gas Supply Association.  He is also a director of numerous industry-related councils, professional organizations and civic endeavors.  He has received many business awards, including the Leadership Award – Independent Petroleum Association of America, the Dean A. McGee Award and was inducted into the Oklahoma Commerce and Industry Hall of Honor (presented by Oklahoma City University).
