 When Clark A. Johnson joined Pier I Imports, Inc. as Chairman and CEO in 1985, he initiated measures to secure Pier I firmly as North America’s largest and fastest growing specialty retailer of decorative home furnishings, gifts and related products. There were 179 stores and sales reached $173.5 million. Today, thanks solid directives, Pier I has 760 stores in the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, England and Japan, and annual net income has compounded 21% over these past years to realize annual sales of $1.1 billion. Market prominence aside, Clark A. Johnson counts strong ethics, exceptional communication skills and a rich history in partnership growth among his many assets.
